Behind Rising Tide

Hi! I’m Lisa Duffy.

Living near the beach where I was born and raised, I find inspiration for my ocean-inspired resin art every day! From competitive swimming to lifeguarding and teaching swim lessons, the water has always been a big part of my life.

After marrying my loving husband and having our 3 wonderful boys, I decided to leave my career as a microbiologist and jumped back in the pool, where I started my part-time business teaching private swim lessons. Then Covid hit, which put a halt to swim lessons and allowed me to focus on my new hobby: resin art!

I’m regularly immersed in the fluid world that inspires me. You will often see a sea turtle, leopard shark, or sea lion silhouette gracing my pieces! Along with my love of the ocean comes a desire to protect it. I strive to reuse and recycle my materials and tools whenever possible. I often up-cycle gently loved items in my art to re-purpose and renew them. I also donate a portion of profits to the Surfrider Foundation of San Diego, Prevent Drowning Foundation of San Diego, and the Human Rights Campaign.
